993 need new plug wires

Has anyone tried the hotwires on their 993? What's the deal with the grounding straps?

I have some damaged wires so it's time for a new set. Other than the $580.00 stock set, I can't find any other wires for this car, it's a 1998.

Thanks for any and all responses!!

www.kingsborne.com has then for a 993. I don't know if they are cheaper than $580 though.

I've heard some sketchy things about the Hot wires. I would try to get some plain old Magnacores. The problem is last I checked they don't have a premade kit for 964 or 993. It is fairly easy to make up a wire set if you can get the correct components.

I just talked to a guy from www.clewett.com and it appears that the components are not available to make your own. These guys are a really good outfit and very informative.

I also spoke with someone yesterday at www.kingsborne.com and they are supposedly waiting on components from Germany to make up more sets, no timeline on the components. A couple of local people I know have used Kingsbourne and I got one thumbs up and one thumbs down...
Looks like Beru it is.

$580 seems a bit on the high side.

www.**********.com has OEM sets for $359.

I'm pretty sure I've seen them for as low as $289 from other internet-based retailers...
