A first attempt at a bit of underside detailing:

With the transmission undertray temporarily removed...

With the engine undertray temporarily removed...

The right rear suspension...

My first set of pics in this thread.

Pictures of my car before it was mine... I'll get some more soon. Pretty rare Amaranth Violet with Marble Grey.

OK, as a newbie (to the 993 forum), I submit our latest addition which will be the wife's daily driver: A 95 993, 40K miles, 1-owner local car with every receipt since new. All I did was replace the audio ond mount a set of Fikse FM10's. It fits in well with our other 3.2's (both 86's)...Here's a shot of it nose-to-nose with the wife's other 911.

Traveller, how did you get the trans so clean? How dirty was it? Mine is black and would love to get it cleaned. Best way to see any leaks.

Mostly "time" and a combination of three products: kerosene, lacquer thinner and Xenit Citrus Cleaner & Remover. You won't be finished in an afternoon.

I have to say that the lacquer thinner worked best and fastest, but you have to be careful using it. You do not soak your brush so that you end up spraying any of it anywhere and you do not let it come in contact with any seals like those where your output shafts exit. I used a 1/2" wide stiff bristle artist's brush and guarded the area around where I was cleaning with rags.

One should not use a wire brush on a drill as I saw one poster do on one of the Porsche forums. The wire brush will score the aluminium and it will also damage the clear anodizing.

Well for me, the best way to work on any vehicle. Its so much more enjoyable working on something that is clean. My motorcycles started all that.
