Need HELP with Oil heating
I have a stock v-ram with Cyntex chip in a 77 coupe. I've had a kit put into the oil line thermostat and tried a totally different thermostat which does open at 180 and keeps it there except at the track. This is a dedicated track car. I have a large B&B cooler in the front RSR bumper with good air flow, a 964/993 cooler under one fender and a Carrera cooler under the other. Still the oil temp creeps up to 250 after about 5 hard laps. It holds over 16 quarts with all those coolers. Also, I have no O2 sensor as the harness I got doesn't have the wires for it. It came direct from Porsche as a cup car harness. As soon as I let off and do one cool down lap the temp drops to 220 and by the time I back in the pits the temp is down to 180. I.ve had the guage checked out. Any ideas?? PLEASE !!

Go to the Pelican 911 forum as there is a wealth of knowledge on 3.6 conversions on older cars. Peter

You might also try Amsoil synthetic oil. The 20W/50 is supposed to lower your engine operating temperature approx 50 degrees F. I've used it exclusively for years and it has always performed great for me.
