Buying a 1995 993... things to look for
Hello everyone,
I'm in the process of purchasing a 1995 993 cabriolet with 90,000 miles. I've already ran a carfax and it looks like at one point it was sold at an auction after the lease was over. Any tips on what to look for? Where are the vin numbers and the engine number? Is there a way to find out if the numbers match? FM |

Ask for a certificate of authenticity from Porsche (essentially the OEM build specs with all options as originally ordered). The Vin # is on the dash driver side behind the windshield). The engine number is near the base of the fan shroud in the engine. There is a book called the Porsche 911 Engine History and Development by Tobias Aichele (probably at the local Barnes & Noble or Border Books) which contains the series engine numbers for different model years that you can check for reasonable correctness.
