Well doug I've got 275/40/17 and 235/40/17 on Fikse FM-10's that don't really rub, just little here and there, nothing to be concerned about. actually a very nice look. And I might be talked into selling them? uhm...just time for a change and I don't go to the track much anymore..:-( theres picture over on rennlist

Rear 255/40/17
Front 205/50/17

I believe this is the recommended tire sizes for 17" wheels

You can squeeze a 225 or even a 235 onto the front 7" rim, but it's not optimal. I had issues with rubbing at 235 (with Yoko A032Rs). I simply use 205's with MPSC or toyo RA-1s. It's more than adequate. The Yoko A032Rs also rubbed a bit when 275s were mounted on the 9" rear (using an additional 5 mm spacer). I now simply use 255s with the MPSCs or Toyos.

The exact size that fits varies because cars are slightly different, the desire to roll fenders or not varies, and the true width varies with manufacturer. A MPSC 205/50 is actually wider than a Yokohama 225/45 (9" vs 8.9"). Depending on what tire you want to use, you may not have much choice in size too (eg SO-2As only come in 205 and 255, there are no 225 or 275s in 17"").

Pick the tire you want then worry about size.
