89 C$ spacer fitting and lowering

I have a 89 C4. I have 993 17 inch wheels with 9 inches on rears , 55 offset and 245/40 tires. What is the widest spacer I can use on the rears to line up to the lip of the fenders. And i noticed i have factory adjustable coils on the suspension, Are they height adjustable? Do I rotate them up or down to lower the car? I would appreciate any response.

The factory 964 suspensions are non-adjustable. The threads you see on the struts are for coner balance and will not lower your car to your desire height. To lower your car properly, you'll need lowering springs (H&R or Eibach). I have H&R RSA/Turbo lowering springs with Bilstein HD struts installed on my '91 C2.

Cheers

I'm attaching a pic of my car to illustrate the effects of the H&R lowering springs. The suspension was corner balanced and dialed in according to the Euro RS specs.

Cheers

Peter C2,
Thanks a lot for your reply. I adjusted the front springs and seems to have a less than half an inch lower. (threading it downward)
And you are right, it not as much different. YOur car is sharp. Did you replace all the springs or just the fronts? Do you have some spare parts for sale?

Thanks for the compliment. I replaced all 4 corners with the same springs & struts. It is not advisable, in fact dangerous, to replace just the fronts with lowering springs. Your car will exhibit strange cornering behaviors that could be hazardous. I would suggest replacing all 4 at the same time. Either H&R or Eibach will lower your car 1 to 1.5 inches.

Sorry no spare parts to sale, I have a weird habit of collecting them.

Cheers
