Will leaky fuel injectors cause the car difficult to start when engine is hot and backfire when accelerate? Thanks in advance.

What do you mean by a leaky fuel injector? Leaking out onto the engine, spilling fuel everywhere and you can smell it in the engine compartment? Or just not closing completely, so a little fuel still passes into the intake at the wrong time?
If the second, the symptoms would depend on how much fuel leaked, and if it the pressure dropped when the engine was off or not, so if it leaked while the engine was off. Leaking with the engine running would cause a rich condition. Check your plugs, do they look rich? If a lot of fuel accumulated in the intake with the engine off, this could flood the engine and make it hard to start. If the fuel didn't evaporate before the next cold start, the cold start would be flooded too. Backfiring when accelerating? You mean backfiring through the intake? Like when we used to see flames shooting out of the carb? You have a 996tt, correct? I would think that backfiring through the intake would be disastrous on that car... Hope my wandering thoughts help...
