Has Anyone Ever Removed a 964 Front Fender?

I removed most of the screws on the drivers (left) side. I still have to remove 3 behind the door jamb which are covered by the AC lines (why is it the AC lines ALWAYS get in the way!) and one torx screw in the top fender lip.

1. HOW DID YOU EVER GET TO THESE SCREWS?

2. Even if you get these screws off ....the fend is stuck solid with the undercoating? HOW DID YOU DEAL WITH THIS?

I need to remove the fenders to address windshield rust and rust, which I assume will be on the inner fender member.

Time, patience, assorted wobble and universal joint extensions.... Getting the car up in the air is helpful. I assume you have already removed the front bumper cover and the pumper itself.

You can cut the undercoating with a razor. - you just keep cutting through it.

I got all the screws out and now I'm starting on the undercoating. The wobble extension was a blessing!

The drivers side fender is off!!!!

Some hints for other pelicaners who are up for the challenge:

1. make sure you got all the screws!
2. The fender fin, by the door jam may be spot welded... a rotary tool will cut the weld with no problem.
3. remove the washer tank, and loosen all the AC brackets so you can get some movement in the lines to acces some of the bolts.
4. remove the gas filler housing by removing the screws, holder ring clip, gas cover, disconnect cable. It takes some work but it will come off. It would come off much easier if you disconnected the gas filler line at the tank.
5. Get a quality utility knife and start cutting the sealant at the joint... It takes some time but it will come off.
