Front bumper question (993)
What is the purpose of the plug the size of a quarter that's on the front bumper? It's off to the right side.
I looked at a 993 yesterday, with the intention to buy and it was missing that plug cover. Do hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance. |
It's for a tow hook. The hook should be in your tool kit. If the hook is missing, you can buy one from Pelican or any other parts supplier. Remove the cover and thread the tow hook in.
There is a spot for the hook on the back, too. I think it is under the license plate. Search for "tow hook" here on Pelican. It should show you both the hook and the cover. Or try http://www.bumperplugs.com/ for the cover. |

Thanks! that's it, and they have it in stock. |
Just to be clear, the tow hook normally sits in the tool kit inside the trunk. It only gets installed when you need it. The "hole" should be filled with an insert that is the same color as the bumper cover and the insert removed only when the tow hook needs to be inserted.
You would not want to drive around with a big silver hook sticking out the front of the bumper. |
