The best Coil-over setup for a 964
 

I'm interested in upgrading my suspension on my 90' C2 since i just finished my major motor upgrade (632 hp) in the car. I'd like to keep the car drivable on the street but also have the ability to take it to the track and still have fun. I've seen the PSS9, JIC, and bilsteins sport suspension setup, what is the best setup for under $2k.

Also, what size sway bars would you run with a 964 with this much power. Thanks

H&R coilover, PSS9 and JIC will all be well north of $2k installed.

Staying under $2k, non adjustable Bilstein HD or sport/H&R sport springs

You still need to come up w/ more $ for adjustable sways, oem 964RS would be good as would TRG.

JIC is best bang for the buck IMHO. You get monobals and front camberplates, different spring choices and good 15 way adjustable shocks for a few more bucks than PSS9's. But depending on your street and definition of driveable, it might be much.

Ok, I voted too, still way north of $2k installed.

the cheap set-up Bilstein/H&R or Eibach isn't worth a poop in my opinion. the front springs are too stiff compared to the rear and the stock Bilsteins are under damped on rebound. further more Bilstein doesn't make the sport version which is very lame of them.

I voted, but "best" depends on budget and application. And as Bill said - most of your choices are more than $2k for the parts (and that doesn't include labor to install and the alignment you'll need when done).

If you spent that much on a motor, why are you looking to be cheap on the suspension?

Probably because i'm an idiot and spent to much damn money on the motor and didn't allow enough for suspension in my budget. Yeah, that sounds about right.:confused:

You can get Koni externally adjustable inserts.

They use your original housings, but you cut the top portion off the housing, drill an anchor hole in the bottom, and slip in the new insert. I have them on my C2, and they're great.

I have the Koni's on the front and the Bilstein Sports in back, with H&R springs. Springs are a little soft, but fine for a street car. My next step will be RS sways.

Lazy: Most of us have done something similar. Unless your current shocks are shot, you might be better off living with them until the budget allows for something better. I have the JIC on my track car and PSS-9s on my daily driver. I think the JIC is a much better value and better suspension.
