Need Information on a '92 C2 Turbo S2. Help

Sorry to post this question here, but I have looked through all my books and done endless research on the internet with no conclusive data (the post here will reach more knowledgeable and more people) . I just bought a 1992 C2 Turbo S2 off ebay, and I would like more information on this car. I have seen many different production numbers and pictures. Some data I found listed that this car was produced to meet a IMSA mandate so 20 were produced. I have also seen that 25 were produced. The car I purchased plainly states that the S2 Options were added on the window sticker. The options however are presented the same on my window sticker as well as a normal C2 Turbo(engine size, coolers, etc.). The normal C2 Turbos only lacking the S2 lettering on the sticker. I have noticed some other differences, such as my car has the turbo emblem on the rear deck lid, and another I have seen have has a S2? There is very to no data on this car. From what I have found the S2 was for the US. It seems that the S2's I have seen all check out in one way or another, but have obvious differences. Thanks in advance for any information. Jesse

Jeff,

Sorry I can't help you on your question, but whats the story with the Turbo? Are you planning on keeping it?

I am serisouly thinking about the Silver C4 Ed Carroll has on the lot, I really like the silver and red.

Yes, I am planning on keeping the Turbo...suppost be the/ or one of the rarest production cars!?! I am selling off my other 911's with the exception of my Green C4. I was in at Ed Carroll last week, but didn't really get a chance to look around. The only non-new 911 I have seen there is the light yellow 86 that has been there for as long as I can remember. We still need to get together, especially if you get the C4. By the way, how is the baby comming along?

Baby is doing well, thanks. Yeah, that 86 cab has been there forever.

Here is the link to the C4. I don't like the wheels, or the painted brake calipers, but apparently they have records, and it just had a new clutch / flywheel installed. I would ofcoruse want Steven at Poudre to look at it first.

What do you think?

I found the e-bay link, that 965 looks sweet.

As soon I saw the picture of the silver 964 I remebered it. I stopped one night (when they were closed) in my green 964 and looked at it for fun a few weeks ago. I agree, its a sweet car, and the red interior makes it extra special. I have not seen that color combo very much. The guys at Ed Carroll take good care of me, and I have been in there a lot. I know some people have had bad experiences with them, but I don't have anything negative to say. Have you drove it yet? If not, you better soon, cause as you know its snowing outside right now!

Yeah, I drove it last Sturday. It is nice and tight. The paint has wear, but that is to be expected. I might take the wife this weekend to look at it. I haven't had any bad experiences with Ed Carroll. The parts guys were super friendly when I needed obsolete parts my 86 cab.

I am stoked to see that turbo.

I am excited for you. Hope it impresses the wife!!! I can't wait to see the turbo either (just bought it, its still not in transit yet. By the time I get it, I am not going to be able to drive it...I would about put money on it,...the day I get it there will be 3 foot of snow on the ground. Let me know how it goes with your car, and when you have time to get together.

Jesse,
Not trying to be rude but is this the car that's missing the rear S2 emblem and also correct me if i am wrong but i think the car has been resprayed as well, right ?
S2's are great cars but to verify one as an original is kinda tough...your best bet would be to go to rennlist.com and post this question there..

I agree, the S2 emblem missing was a concern of mine. I got a copy of Car and Driver from 1993 with the S2 in it. The picture is hard to tell for sure, but the picture of the S2 in C&D appears to have the rear turbo emblem as well. I have seen other S2's with the emblem on the rear.
