964 narrow body vs. widebody bumper reinforcement dimesions

I am converting an 87 3.2/G50 to a narrow body C2. I just purchased a rear reinforcement bumper on ebay that was described history was 964/965 C2/C4 turbo OEM. It doesnt fit, the attachment points are 1" short on each side. My question is is there a difference in dimensions between the narrow body and wide body 964 inner bumpers. I thought this was a bolt on upgrade. Do you think I was sent the wrong part?

ps- Why would you expect a 964 part to bolt on to a 911?

My research told me the late 80's carrera could be converted to the C2/C4 look, biggest difference being the bumpers, in which the innereinforcement bar was a bolt on. that's where my problem is, wrong one. Thanks for helping with your answer.

That is true, but not all of the parts will be bolt on

I have completed this conversion using 100% factory parts. This is not a bolt on conversion. The parts look like they should bolt on, but only because of the similar body dimensions. The front and rear 964/965 bumper supports are the same. They will not bolt to the early 911 bumper shocks. To use the factory supports you will have to make brackets that bolt to the body.

964 bumpers

I have been lucky enough with replies to let me know it is not bolt on. Universally, I need custom brackets. Is there a shop that sells them as a product, are there drwings with dimensions and type of raw material needed so I can take it to a machine shop. Do you use the older bumper shocks as it seems the latter are too short. then do you machine new attachment points on the factory bumper reinforcement or use the custom bracket to complete the attachment points. Lastly, if anyone can recommend a shop in the san francisco bay area that does this, please let me know. thank you for all your replies.
