Head retorque 3.6
I just finished my first rebuild on my 3.6L motor over the summer. After putting about 300-400 track miles on it since the rebuild, I am going to check/adjust the valves and check/ retorque the head bolts this weekend. At the original assembly of the heads, I followed the factory manual method for tightening the head bolts: 1st stage 15 Nm, 2nd stage 90 deg more.
Can anyone tell me if the retorque method should follow the same procedure? SO far , I haven't been able to locate a final torque value to shoot for, so I am assuming that I need to use the 90 deg angle method. BUt it sure would be easier to loosen them one at a time and be able to retorque them to one value. Thanks, Dave J

Checking the valves is fine, but you should not have to retorque the heads.
If you just want to spot check them 15Nm + 90 degrees should be somewhere around 40 - 55 Nm. AFJ

After the rebuild in my SC, I retorqued the head studs and two of them needed it a little. I think I did that at around 1000 miles, but I sure didn't track the car before that.
