Autothority MAF repair HELP!

Hi,

I bought a used Autothority MAF last year for my 1990 964.
I sent it to Autothority to have it repaired/calibrated with the correct chip.

Thats their last e-mail:

Hello Sir,

I am sorry to tell you that we were not able to repair nor replace the 3.2 MAS sensor and have to ship this unit back to you. The problem here is that the company whom has produced the sensors for us for over 10 years had recently exchanged ownership and to make the long, old story short. The new people do not have the know-how nor interest to reproduce the products for us. They have tried and tried and tried but all failed. Please understand that we have lost a lot of sales because of this and we have tried to work with them but with no luck. And we are still looking for other alternative solutions because everyday we have peole called and requested for these products from 944T. 3.2 Carerra, 3.6 964, 993TT. As you can see that is a lot of lost business and we can not afford to do that.

Again, I am very sorry to keep your unit here for such a long time. Please let me know what you want us to do.

Best regards,
Minh Nguyen
Autothority CEO/Sales Manager

Question: where can I have the MAF fixed?
Thanks.

You might have to buy a new or used one.

What do you need fixed?
Is the MAf defective or do you need a recalibrated chip?

Autothority told my sensor itself is not working properly.
They had to change to another supplier for their sensors. The supplier (with Autothority help) never got through it. So they no longer have sensors for their systems and they have to stop to do the MAF system.

Sad and strange....

Is there a brillant guy somewhere who knows those sensors and chips?

Help is really needed.

The sensor is probably either made by bosch, hitachi or denso.
You can search for appropiate manufacturer and replace with like-kind sensor.

You can also test the sensor by applying 12 volts to the correct terminals.
for example: http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/h34.pdf

This is for a Toyota sensor but should translate over to yours.

The company that used to make the mass air flow sensors for Autothority was Pro-M, known for their aftermarket Ford and GM MAF sensors as seen in old JEGS catalogs. They went bankrupt about a year and a half ago. Pro-M, or the people associated with Pro-M are the only people that can fix/calibrate their sensor, and if they can't do it or don't exist anymore, you're pretty much SOL.

I suggest trying to clean the sensor yourself. Pull the element out and use brake cleaner, or CRC MAF cleaner to wash off all the oil and soot on the hotwire elements. That may be all you need.

I might be able to help you. We had great success with the 944/951 and 911 MAF which we use with our kits. Please email me directly!
