Question for Bill Verburg

RE 964 C-4. Bill, should the chamber between the master cylinder and power brake servo have fluid in it or are one of the components leaking if it does?
Thanks, Bob

Well, that sucks. Just replaced the servo/ booster thinking the same thing.
Tried the new one hooked up to the pump before installing the master cylinder and it leaks also.

Bill, as it turns out, there is supposed to be fluid in the chamber. In the picture below, there is an L-shaped area in the casting- just to the left of the painted number in the circle- that has 2 holes in it. One leads to the chamber and the other towards the servo.
The bad part is that the only way to tell if your master cylinder is bad is if the pedal creeps down or fails completely.
The old fluid leaking out the back symptom doesn't work in this case.
