993/964 Shifter
Does anyone know if the boot is the same between a 993 and a 964? I need to know specifically if the lower clip-in loop is the same shape and would work on either car.

I just purchased a 993 boot for my 964 and from what I just experenced, they are not the same. The base of my 964 boot was rubber with the leather boot over top, the rubber base slid over the shifter lever and there was no clip holding it. The base of the 993 boot is metal with the leather boot over top. I don't know how it ataches to the 993 but I had to cut away the existing rubber base from my old boot. The profile of the rubber allowed it to be forcibly fit into the metal cavaty of the 993 shifter. Then I slide it back over the shifter lever and it worked out okay. There is no clip in loop for the 964, if it were used on a 993 the rubber base might slide over the 993 shifter if it were the same shape and be held in place because of the tight fit between the rubber and the shifter lever.
