Thanks for the kind words. The wheels are standard 17" and I ran 18s" on the car when I first purchased it for a few weeks. The ride on 18s is just not the same as 17s IMO. I liked the 17" Cup IIs that came with the car and I used them for over a year until I found the wheels I wanted. I sold the 18s. The current wheels are 17" Kinesis Supercups that I purchased used and paid $2k+. Speedline made a wheel that is very similar, but both Kinesis and Speedline are out of business. So, you will have to look for used. The tires are Goodyear Eagles and they are standard size for a C2 911.

This is a "technical forum" so, technically I did not write the book by myself, I had a co-author.
The book is called Modern Midges, a Fly Fishing and fly tying book that came out in September. It is selling very well as it is in it's second printing. Shameless Advertising! The book is on sale everywhere; Amazon, Barns & Nobel, etc. SORRY! ![]() ![]() Jerry

Wow, that's awesome Jerry! I Just did a fly fishing trip in Jackson, Wyoming a few months ago, and I salt water fly fish whenever I'm back in Maine for the summer. Always wanted to get into tying my own flies, but can never seem to find the time to actually do it even if I knew how. Congrats on the book, hope it continues to do well !

I have a 95 993 and have been using it as a everyday driver for the past 3 years. The car has been great! Its not so raw that it is uncomforable for everday but raw enough so it is still a kick in the pants. I live in the Palm Springs area so the heat really gives it a workout.

I'm also very satisfied with my 95 993. It is not not used for daily driving, but is great to drive, work on it, admire technical solutions, design etc.
When I bought it in June 2008 I planned to keep it some time and go for a newer Porsche. But when you really start to think what to change to, with a reasonable amount of money <-> more interesting/better car <-> expected value over time, it's really a tricky challenge. -> I guess I'll keep my 993 for a very long time. I have rather started to dream about buying a 993 RS or Turbo, or the new Turbo S wouldn't be a bad choice...

Yeah, I agree...a 993 turbo would be a very nice ride, but then again, I am not interested in increasing my maintenance costs above what a non turbo would cost. I hate paying for maintenance anyways, and since I am not mechanically inclined, it is a necessary expense for me.
I'll still dream and drool about a turbo though...

Comparison for me between my '83SC and the '95 993:
SC is faster off the start (my 993 has six speed and is geared all wrong!!!) SC requires more involvement with the driving, which I like. Wife likes driving the 993 as it is more user friendly with nice amenities. SC shifts nicely/easily compared to lightweight flywheel in 993 but I have a heavy foot, Wife believes it is the other way around. SC gets better fuel economy. SC looks better, Wife likes the look of the 993 better. 993 has been more reliable!!!!!!! Did I mention the 993 has had fewer issues to sort out? Parts are cheaper for the SC, spent more on parts than I did the car (we bought her really inexpensively). SC sat for years (YEARS) untouched, started right off the bat, broke headstuds immediately. 993 was re-built body/suspension by board member, top end done by board member. Both have A/C, 993 A/C actually works and is more than a paperweight. 993 heat is great!! SC heat is good. People spend more time staring at SC with tail versus plain brown wrapper 993. Idiots always want to race no matter which car it is. If I had to do it over again, I would probably have just stuck with the 993 as that is the preference of Wife. Both are daily drivers, SC summer only and not when it is raining. Neither are collectors cars.
