964 ABS Diagnosis

My 1990 AWD car was on storage for about ten years. It's out and driving now, with just one issue remaining.

Initially I had a persistent ABS fault as soon as I started the car, but that seems to have cleared itself with some cycles and miles.

I still get an ABS fault after about 30 seconds of driving.

I have measured the resistance of the sensors at the computer, three are with 5 ohms of 1,000. The right front is 1,600 ohms.

I have read that the allowable range is 1,000 to 1,600, it seems to me that the next logical step is to replace the right front.

I am sort of remote, I do not have access to scanner right now. So I either guess and buy the sensor, or make the long trip for a 15 minute scan. Alternatively I could connect a scope to all four corners, starting with the right front.

Anyone had an issue with 1,600 ohm sensor being faulty?

You need to use a multimeter set to ohms.

Just unplug the sensor at the wheel and measure between the two pins on the connector.

You can also measure at the connect on the ABS controller.

In my case the problem turned out to be the longitudinal acceleration sensor 'not-plausible', i.e. the signal was out of range.

I have cleaned my sensor, I will add a 'how-to' note separately.
