964 shocks/springs need replacing
Looking for HD Bilsteins/ HR spring combo or suitable alternative for '91 C2 from someone who has upgraded...thx.
|
I am in the exact same boat ('91 C2 Coupe). Not looking to track just street driving. Would also want the benefit of dropping the car to ROW height.
thanks Mike B |
I have a complete set of shocks from a 93 C2 if either of you guys are interested. Name a fair price and they are yours.
Cheers, James |
If your on a budget the bilstein HD h&r red or green is your cheapest approach. I have tried the bilstein HD's with greens, eibach's and reds. I prefer a ride that communicates and handles well around the turns. IMO the HD/red combination is the only one of the three that does this. The eibachs are better than the greens IMO but not by much, but I would not use either anymore. There is little difference in overall ride between the reds and greens until you hit very rough road and more of the roughness is transmitted but IMO it is better than the stock setup for comfort.
I recently switched from reds to hypercoil 2.5" dia racing springs on my c2 for track use the reds had only a few thousand track miles on them and are in like new condition with minor marks that even new springs will have after installation. I am not actively selling but offer them if you need them. $275.00 plus shipping within CON US. |

Anyone know what the part number is for the red springs?
|
I believe it is H&R 29834
|
Greens tend to the preferred spring for spirited driving. Nice pricing here for comparision purposes..
Carnewal.com click on suspension, scroll down to p64, then these: P64 Bilstein HD Shocks and H&R springs Ive had a few sets of these and they were awesome. |
thx guys.
Are you saying that Carnewal is the best pricing? I'm wondering who has other sources here and what the proper green shocks and HD Bilstein part numbers are so I can chase them down accurately. |
I am running Red H@R Springs. When i asked advice about spring and damper set up, the advice given was to run uprated springs with new standard dampers best combination..This is for fast road use not sure about track use never tracked mine running to higher db rating.

I can only assume you no longer wanted the springs however a response to my emails would have been nice. I went out of my way and spent time i did not have to collect them for you after you said you would buy them.:( |
Hi Anthony,
I apologize for the lack of communication, but since I offered to buy the springs from you on Jan 13th I didn't hear anything back from you until Jan 20th, a full week. I assumed that during this week interim you had a change of heart. Unfortunately during the end of that week I went ahead and purchased other springs. It is my fault that I didn't write back to you on the 20th and I fully and sincerely apologize. I've been busy with a bathroom renovation and it has been taking up all of my time. -Mike B I am looking to do the suspension work 'on the cheap' and would've preferred to buy from you. |

A misunderstanding, best luck with the project |
I am running konis and Greens on 17 inch twists, the car has been lowered to ROW delivery height and other than that it is stock. I have never tried the reds.
I can honestly say the performance is a radical improvment over stock and I am experienced enough to know that any difference in the 2 would be minimal to me, I am sure both appeal to different drivers but I love the current set up for the track and am constantly amazed at how well the car rides on the street, eats up blemishes on the road like my 4 door Benz. Here is a shot of what the car does at our local, this under severe off camber turn in and then coming out under full throttle. There is some lean but the forces are maxed in this turn and the car sings through it. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1296002534.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1296002594.jpg |

Greens are stiffer than the reds..
|
looks good. what is the offset on your 17's? 9's? 265's?
btw, somehow i was under the impression that the reds were stiffer. |
