H4 "city light" socket
I just purchased a pair of Bosch H4 upgrade kits from Pelican. The catalog information says explicitly that they do not come with bulbs, but the units I received have both the high/low beam bulbs and city lights installed. Does anyone know the part number for a socket for the city lights? I am thinking about eventually removing the fog lamps on my car and would then have both a free lighting circuit and bulbs just waiting to be wired into it.

Why not? It's a light socket with a bulb on it and a switch in the car that will (if and when I replace the fog lamps with air ducts) have no function. It seems pretty symmetrical and easy to match up.

you are going to run the city lights off the fog lamp switch?
you will lose the capability to use the turn signal switch to operate the city light as a marker. |

Is that a standard capability of the city light? Right now it will have zero capabilities whatsoever unless I wire them in one way or another and I am not entirely familiar with their functionality in Europe. I have likened them in my mind more to daytime running lights in late-model vehicles, and it made sense to me to have an on-off switch. Are they only used as directional signals, or are they always on but blink with the directional signals, or ...?
Of course, none of this answers whether anyone knows what socket to use to wire them in to begin with.

i wired mine into the side lights. You need to run the ground wire as well.
This method gives you the proper function. The daytime running lights are enacted by putting a relay into the proper receptacle in the fusebox. The city lights do not blink with the directionals, although you could easily wire it to function in this manner. |

I'm confused as to why you said I would lose the capability of using the turn signal switch to operate the city lights as a marker if you do not have that capability, either.
Did you find proper sockets for the city lights or just connect wires to the terminals on the bulb? |

I have the full city light function. As it should be.
You can use the original socket holder, in the side marker. The brown wire side is the ground. |

Ahh, the question of city lights, a bit of mystique about them apparently. Searches are not entirely illuminating. What are the options for installation hardware? What are the options for function?
Maybe Rennlist can help.
