Noisy Wind Deflector

Hi,

Rattle, rattle, clank, rattle, clank...just above my head !

I have looked at the other posts on noisy sunroofs, and they all seem to treat badly adjusted roofs, loose guides, etc.

My roof is fine, it's the wind deflector that rattles (open and closed). You can see where it touches in the photo..
There's no play in the hinges, so I don't know what to do apart from removing the **** thing or putting my Supercup pipes back on to drown out the noise !

Silly question #1 : is this normal ?
Silly question #2 : shouldn't there be a strip of foam or rubber in here somewhere (I can't see one in the parts manual) ?

Are the two clips to the right of your red arrow intact? I have my sunroof apart right now due to a broken cable. Mine does not rattle and there is no rubber along that area.

Yes, the two clips are intact, and there is no play in them.

I have been adding bits of foam in one at a time until I managed to get it quiet, but this isn't the solution.

After looking again at the spare parts catalogue I am missing the spacer 24a.

Does this fit next to the spring or in the hinge ??

I just went to the garage and looked at my moon roof (yes we do that sort of thing for each other on this forum). It sounds like you are referring to item #25A above and not 24a (there is no 24a). The drawing above is misleading - item 25A is a thin rubber washer, item 22 is a thick rubber washer. It appears from your picture that you have item 22 installed. But you also need item 25A to keep the wind deflector from rattling.

You need to order 2 of item 25A, spacer ring, using P/N 911-564-301-00 at $5.50 each (wow! really?). Or you could order one of item 22, using P/N 911-564-423-00 at $1.50 and cut it in half.
