Targa Body Brace

Hey guys,

My next upgrade on my Targa C2 is to increase body rigidity. Targa body brace is what I am looking at before moving on to strut towers. I found that Pelican sells it but it is for 74-89 and I don't see any other product for this. Does anybody know if this one fits on our 964 Targa or know any other product that will fit on 964?

Thanks in advance,

BW

if you are talking about the brace that goes from the floor at the rear of the seat to the seat belt bolt , it does fit the 964..

It looks fabulous but it's well over my budget. And also I have a child seat in the back.

But thanks,

Yes, that's what I'm talking about. Do you have a pair on your car?

Yes and the first thing you notice is that the Targa roof becomes quieter!

I had those body braces on my 1991, I thought they helped in decreasing some stress on the top and reduce leakage. I have a BK harness bar and a pair of out of date Schroth 5-point belts in red if you are interested. I moved back to a cab.

Thank you for posting the pic. It looks good! Did you have to make some mod or fab to fit them or bolt right on?

No mods, seat belt bolts could be longer so be careful threading them in ...dont want to strip them. You will have to adjust them a bit for the first few weeks and then pretty much leave them alone..just so they are snugged up against the bolts with no play..

Nice...I had seen them on the earlier cars but wasn't sure if they fit ours (thank you). Did you do a strut tower brace too? Any thoughts on how that stiffened things up compared to the body brace? Thought the combination might be nice. I have to keep the back seats open for my little passengers so I can't get too extreme.

I have a strut tower brace (Brey Krause...I like the way it adjusts) as well, installed it after the side bars so i dont know if it made a difference or not, I know the side bars did!

Inyterestingly, I ordered the body braces from our host and got a call from Pelican saying that the supplier indicated that they wouldn't fit a 964.

I got them from Midwest (out of Illinois) when they still handled Porsche stuff, perhaps the item available through Pelican is different.

I don't see the braces that go between the seatbelt bolts on the Pelican site. Are they available somewhere else?

Thanks,

W
