I have used Yokohama´s Advan Sport in the past and now I have Hankook V12 evo´s both are not so expensive and very good tires, I do street and time trials with them

I think our cars both came with 17" wheels. What does your owner's manual say? What are you looking for - maximum mileage, traction in the rain, good ride, or good adhesion on the track? Will this be for the winter season coming up in Chicago, or next summer?
As you can clearly see, many variables. Mark

My 964 is my daily driver, so I need tyres that are good all-rounders (please excuse the pun)
I had a set of Bridgestone RE050A...excellent in the dry, poor in the wet and useless in snow. Dammed dangerous when they were near the wear limit...they would aquaplane everywhere at the slightest hint of rain. I then tried a set of Uniroyal Rainsport...outstanding in the wet, good in the dry, and still work well even though they are almost worn out. The main problem is that they have a 'V' tread like Goodyear Eagle F1 GS and are very very noisy. I got a puncture last week and put my snow tyres on...the chunky snow tyres are actually quieter ! I once had some Michelin Pilot-Sports on my 944...awesome grip, but dead in under 5000 miles ![]() I'm going to try out some Dunlop SP Sport Maxx next....has anybody had any experience of these ?

Michelin A/S pilots sound about right for you. I've used these and it's a lot of grip.
These are good all season types with performance in mind. The tires you mentioned I've used. Set up is a factor as not all vehicles respond to well to every tire / chassis / suspension combo. I tend to stick to Michelin, Bridgestone, and Dunlop, there are a few acceptions or special compounds but honestly said I think for what you want the above will do you fine. If snow levels are at such levels that your struggling, switch to a proper winter tire. |

I just ordered a new set of Hankook Ventus V12 Evos for my 964 from Tire Rack. The Car and Driver review seems to show they provide some very good handling and braking, and since they are already a good value and Hankook is offering a $80 rebate right now, I figured for the cost I could not go wrong.
