Exhaust System

I was considering purchasing a header muffler kit/package from Fab Speed. I asked if they would guarantee the emissions and OBD2 compatibility but they would not. I asked for some references I could call to find out how well the install went and or about any trouble lights with the systems. They told me they can't give out customers names.

My goal was to reduce the restriction of the factory cats to 100 or 200 microns, add balanced headers, improve the sound and add about 20 HP.

Anyone have any thoughts or experience with this?

I take it you have a 96+ 993? That does help, if we know what car it's for. Forget about gaining 20hp, not going to happen, more like 8-10, if you are lucky.

What kit from Fabspeed? The whole exhaust kit with the headers? I read it does't fit so easily. Or just the cat pipes & 993 style mufflers?

From what I've seen & listened to, the mufflers drone like made, & have a more muscle car sound to them. If you remove the cats, you will cat a CEL. If you do the cat pipes you should be ok with the cel & emissions.

I have a DACH Cat pipe, & Fister STG II mufflers. It sounds simply AWESOME, I pass emissions, have 0 drone, & gained a couple of ponies. I also lost a few pounds off the rear.

I have a 96 C2.

The package from Fab Speed includes new headers an RSR muffler and 200 micron cats plus all piping and connections.

Where would I source the items you used? Is your 993 really loud or somewhere between open headers and the stock exhaust.

What is a DACH cat pipe & fisher stg II mufflers. Also not familiar with drone.

In your set-up you must have used the existing cat if you passed emissions.

I am running Fabspeed on my 90C2, have had it for over 8 years and am quite pleased, it was a bit loud with the left pipe wide open but I baffled it and the sound is great...no drone now...a few months ago I put on the Fabspeed cat bypass and it gave the car a mellower/lower note

Fabspeed is rathe rpricey but I have gotten many years of service out of it without issues..more than I can say about the Borla system I put on a BMW!!

It's loud, but not all the time. At idle it has a very nice burble, & is only a bit louder then Porsche Motorsound exhaust. When you are in the fun zone, & WOT it is wonderful! The lift off burble & brakes are great.

I was also looking at the fister stage 2 or three with new 200 cell cats. Did you install everything yourself, if so did everything bolt in perfect?

Look at the pics, it was done in my garage, took about 2hours, most of that was getting the tips realigned.

Fisters are stock cans, so the fit is well, stock. DACH makes a awesome pice, it also fit just like the part it replaced.

I had the DACH 200 cell cat on my 993 and loved it. I am really thinking about putting a modified 993 system on my 964.

I would be worried that a Fister Stage 3 and x-pipe would loose a lot of low end torque.
