Repair Advice Needed - 993 Tiptronic Control Unit
Hello everyone, my 1996 993 Targa has a problem with the Tiptronic Control Unit.
The Tiptronic Warning Light comes on after some driving time (I assume when the gearbox warms up) and the gearbox locks in the highest gear (4th). My local shop has swapped the Tiptronic Control Unit with that from another car and the light disappears. Subsequently, swapping the native unit back in, the light reappears. So it seems that the Tiptronic Control Unit is faulty. The part number of the Tiptronic Control Unit is 993 618 120 00 (since superseded with 993 618 120 02, I believe). I do not know how this is different from the other part number I have come across on the internet (993 618 115 00). My car has the ABD option and is a Varioram (all 993 Targas are Variorams) so perhaps that? Anyway, can anyone recommend a place to send the unit in for repair? Picture of the car for attention:

I contacted Jorge but was informed that they do not service Transmission Control units and only work on ECU or Engine Computers.

Well in that event I would contact LA dismantlers they should have tons ..
