Issues with 964 models?

The forum at Rennlist seems more active than this one, but in general it's typical old-car stuff.

The AWD system is solid.

engine oil leaks are not uncommon.

The climate control (esp. the control module and servos) are a little dodgy.

Most people recommend paying a knowledgeable mech for a PPI to determine if there are any Major Issues that need sorting.

The biggest thing to do is get a ppi before and from a place that is trusted like said in the last post. A good leak down to find if there are any back spots in the engine you do not want to buy a car and have to get a top end done right after.
Seems like most of them leak a bit and they are twenty year old cars but I will not give up my 964. Its like driving a big go cart. Lots of fun.

I picked up a 1991 c4 in January, and use it as my DD... I've put 12k miles on it since buying it.

Great, great car. Many are scared off by the complex (compared to 993) awd system, because it can be complicated to diagnose & repair. Used to be that you needed a bosch "hammer" in order to diagnose, but someone reverse-engineered it so you can run all the function on your laptop:

Diagnostic Tool

I just got mine, have yet to load it up.

Anyway, great cars, I love mine. Watch for cylinder-head leaks (90-91, pre o-rings) and get someone knowledgeable to check out the awd.
