I am trying to start a 1998 993 that has been sitting for almost 2years without a battery. The lights and accessories work, but when I turn the ignition switch to start, the starter doesn't turn. Is there an alarm that won't let me start it? any tricks to bypass it? thanks.

There is a drive block system that is integrated with the ECU. You must either have the remote or the access code (4 digits) to override the drive block with the key. Without either one it will not start and there is no workaround.

your battery could be undercharged. it could have enough juice to work the lights but not enough to engage the starter. make sure it's fully charged.
test with multimeter accross both terminals. should read about 11. |
