Passenger door won't stay locked.

I recently had a problem start where the passenger door would not lock completely when I used the key to lock the car and arm the alarm. It degraded to the point now where even if I manually lock it from inside, when I close the driver door and lock it, the alarm sets, then pops the lock on the passenger side. Alarm still goes off if I open the door but I can no longer lock the car. Any ideas?

Got factory alarm with remote? then i guess the alam itself or a bad door/ hood contact or any other related to alarm. For instance when door or hood is not proper closed and use the remote to lock the car it will unlock itself and alarm will make a small beep. So a poor contact will do the same.

Okay, so maybe the alarm isn't sensing that the door is properly locked? The plunger is down all the way manually, but pops up again when locked. It's only the passenger door lock that pops back up. The driver's door stay locked. I don't have a remote. Just the two keys, so I have to use the key in either door to look and arm the car.

Try taking the top panel off your passenger door to expose the plunger and sensor mechanism. Clean the center of the magnet-like sensor, where the plunger slides up and down, with some electrical contact cleaner. Be careful not to overspray or all this cleaner to run on your upholstery. Test before reassembly. Should do the trick. Note, you may need to do the same on the drivers side.

Thanks. Will try that tomorrow. Had a problem with a window switch and changed all three switches. windows worked, and so did lock...once. Now it doesn't lock again, but also, the red diode stays lit even when the doors are unlocked. Tried to lock/unlock with key several times. Alarm does not sound when I open doors, but will if I try to lock and open the malfunctioning and unlocked passenger door. Hmmmm...
