will a 1972 lwb targa bar cover fit a 964???

aloha, I know somebody must have done this before. I want to put a brushed stainless lwb targa bar cover on my 964. I don't think I have to pull the window. anybody know? any ideas would be greatly appreciated. cheers, geoff

Good news is that you dont need to pull the window...Now the bad news...
In order to remove the Targa Bar you have to remove the oil tank, etc to get to the mounting studs on the passenger side. Be very careful removing the seal as well..that has to come off to get to the multitude of little screws on the front of the targa bar. The bar itself is held in with some sticky sealer as well.

If you are going to do it you may as well replace all the rubber hoses/lines at the oil tank and it wouldnt hurt to have some new tank mounting buffers (there are two)

I thought that some interior panels had to come out but the studs that hold the base of the bar are accessible only from under the car
