1997 911 Convertible top question

We just bought a used 1997 Carrera. Both convertible top motors have been replaced in the last few years. I put the top up the other day, and it stopped moving just prior to the rollers connecting and latching. The top won't go up or down. When we try to operate the switch, it just clicks. We also tried to operate the manual locking system with a screwdriver, but can't get the rollers to move. It's been suggested that the screwdriver has to be in there "just right." But, we've spent a lot of time trying to get it right. Any other ideas? Can't be driven, even to repair shop. Wiring?

You can always pop out the two covers in the back and use a 19mm socket and loosen the to bolts then the top will operate manually, this will allow you to put the top down and get it to the shop. Just to make sure you are using a standard screw driver to try and opperate the latch
