dual exhaust considerations for 964 - advice?
Hi Guys,
Been looking seriously at fabspeed's products and would like some advice on if this is the best all round option for horsepower increase, cool sporty sound and value for money. Currently, my exhaust system is dead stock factory standard. There is a bit of info on the forums, but was hoping to get up to date information. Also, I note that i would need a valance replacement side for my 964 as it is only factory single outlet. I believe FVD Brombacher does these in fibreglass? |

I have had the Fabspeed on my 90 for about ten years and am happy with it however it is very loud when using dual outlet so you will want to either baffle the left side or make a "shut off" for it...seriously ...I would set off car alarms when I had both sides open!! Also there is a bit of drone with the fabspeed but once I handled the wide open left side I was able to reduce that so it isnt as annoying
I also used the FVD valence. Originally I just cut the old valence and while it bothered me no one else noticed it was just a cut away job..only reason I went to the FVD piece is someone tapped me hard enough to damage rear bumper so since paint work was being done I went ahead and finished the rear end ...also used Euro center section.,. I dont much care for the fiberglass valence but did not find another company making it out of anything else..there is a better alternative for the center section out there

I bought the Fabspeed RSR exhaust, but ended up returning it for refund due to poor fitment and noise. Not only is it noisy, but there is a DRONE at highway cruising speeds that will give you a headache, takes all the fun out of driving the car.
As far as HP increase, I didn't feel any, but I was running cat bypass and cup pipe already. My advice, SAVE YOUR MONEY, give Steve Weiner at Rennsportsystems.com a call and ask his advice on a good exhaust and a chip, you will be way happier in the long run.

Hepcat63, really depends on what kind of sound you can live with or rather what you like. I have a 964 DE/Street car. For me I removed the secondary muffler and replaced it with a Dansk G pipe. In addition I installed a Fabspeed cat by pass tube. Thats all I needed. Get lots of compliments about the sound of the car. More importantly I felt the car pulled a little harder with more grunt. I really feel the car was all plugged up with all the stock mufflers that were mandated for emissions.
