Porsche Factory Tool 9588- (>$10,000)
like a laptop with appropriate software, cables, and readouts for codes, real time values of DME, ABS, Airbag, Alarm systems etc. Congress has forced all automakers into divulging their once secret OBD2 and OBD1 source files to all independent technicians for a reasonable price. New Law being signed. When will cheap tools be available? Don't know. There was a link posted within the last week about a $300 tool that can work for Porsches.

I use a package that works on a Palm for under $200. It comes with a decoder box and a cable to hook up from the car to your Palm. It will work on ANY OBDII car. I have used it on a Mitsubishi, Porsche, VW, Izusu, Honda, Chevy, Nissan, Ford, Chrysler, and a few more. As long as your car is 96 or newer it will work. I am very happy with it so far, and it has saved me over $1000 so far in repairs. It will also give you a live read out of any parameter that it measures. Here's the website I got it at: . Scan tool for Palm
Edit: It also comes with free software to work on a PC. Last edited by SpeedracerIndy; 09-30-2002 at 07:53 PM.. |
