Post Rain Stumble and Stall

Whenever it rains fairly hard (I live in SE Georgia, so that is quite often) my '91 C2 does not want to start and if it does, runs like dog doo until, what I guess is, the moisture evaporates from inside the dizzies. Question, is this a common problem? There is no seal between the cap and body and with the location right under the vent, it seems to be set up for failure. Is there any kind of seal designed to eliminate this? Would a bead of RTV as a seal be a prudent measure or would that create some other problem? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

I shouldn't think you would need to glue the distributor caps on to prevent wet weather problems. I would first look for bad ignition wires. When it's really humid, crank the engine over in a dark garage and see if you can see either sparks or traces along the wires. When the insulation of the spark plug and coil wires starts failing, the electrical pulses start leaking out and finding their way to ground before they ever get to the spark plugs. This is made worse by bad spark plug terminals. If there is high resistance anywhere in the ignition wires, the electricity will flow out to ground on the easier path through the bad insulation.
