Oil thermostat hose replacement help
Need some suggestions on the best way to replace the small rubber hose between the thermostat and oil tank. Since the hose is so short I'm having a tough time slipping it on both ends. I cut the old one out. I need to lower the thermostat unit to allow more space but I could not get the 36mm nuts to budge. I was also thinking about raising the oil tank but the bottom nut pictures with the rubber bushing is stuck as well and the tab bends while apply more force. I was able to get the similar nut off from the bushing higher up in the wheel well. Are there more than these two attachment points? Any suggestions would be appreciated !!!

If you haven't already done so, put the hose in a container of very hot water for about five minutes then see that give it enough flexibility to work it into place. Slide it as far as you can onto the silver colored fitting, then back it up onto the the brass colored one...Just a suggestion.

I finally got the large 36mm hose off you see in the photo. This allowed the thermostat to drop down significantly allowing easy hose attachment. Thanks!

Another way is to unscrew nut that holds thermostat - this will give you enough play to push thermostat down
![]() also loosen clamps, but make sure those hoses stay on (they pain to fit also): ![]() While you there it is also good idea to replace rubber o-ring in thermostat. 99% chance it is leaky ![]() ![]() ![]() Oleg. |
