Lower seat for tall person with 993

I am 6'5" tall and need to lower the seat or get as new seat which is lower for a 993. I want it to have an adjustable headrest and not look too unconventional. Any suggestions?

Not the cheapest option, but you could get new seats.

http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/pcar_com/recaro_seat2.htm covers installation of Recaro seats, and the author notes at the end how much headroom he gains. The Recaros might be a bit funky looking - Sparco do some more normal looking seats, but they (a) might not give you the headroom increase and (b) are *very* expensive, over $1200 each in leather. What you might be able to do is use your current seats with flat (non-adjustable) rails.

Interestingly, I don't find I have any headroom problems in my 964, and I'm 6'4 (but I don't think I'd have any problems if I were an inch taller) - I know the 996 is a lot smaller inside, but I've never been in a 993.

Hope this helps!

Alan, at 6'5" you may have to resort to using brackets to bolt the seat directly to the floor, at opposed to using sliders. Obviously, you lose fore-to-aft adjustability in this case. You'd want to use the brackets in conjunction w. an aftermarket seat, rather than the factory seats.

Do you have a sunroof in your car?
