To all the convert. hardtop owner...s

I have begun the search for my ideal 993 and I have a long road ahead of me being so picky on what I want. Anyways, I have always liked the looks of the coupe, but I have noticed if i open my search to convertibles, I would have a considerably larger pool to pick from...the only problem is i dont like the looks of the 993 convert. with the top up. having the top down being in Cali is tempting, but i want a hardtop for winters. I narrowed it down to coupes since I was under the impression there were not hardtops made for the 993, but I picked up a recent issue of 911 & Porsche World, and there is a company somewhere in Europe who makes the 993 hardtop, but they had no website, just an ad and phone numbers. Does anyone know about this company? are there more 993 hardtop companies out there (preferably in the US)? any links or websites available?

this would be a great thing if they do exist

thanks everyone!!

i take it you mean the french company ? (cannot remember the name)
i think stuttgart connection sell there products and i think they have a website .
there is also a usa based company has them on ebay . they also sell speedster humps , so if you search that keyword it should narrow the search .
or you could also try to find a genuine porsche hard-top (very rare)

i looked at this , but you have to remove the full roof to fit the hard top ........... too much hassle for me

hardtop

the company is Strosek, based in Germany . there is also a factory hardtop made ,but it is very rare because it was a 20.000
$ Option . They are all handmade and you could order it with power sunroof . That is the only Hardtop what makes a convertible look like a Coupe .

$20,000 option???? are you kidding me?? that is outrageous, even for porshce. i have seen the Strosek one and dont really like the looks of it. I didnt think there were many around, just thought it would be a good idea to check before i bought the coupe. i live in california, so due to smog, i will be getting the 1995 model. i really love the looks of targas, but the they didnt make it in '95, so if i have to choose, i got to go with no CEL worries over apperance wouldbe nice to have the best of both worlds for sure!

You realize of course that you would need to REMOVE the soft top completely in order to install a hardtop... Its a PITA to do this, so unless you are capable of doing this, I would suggest that you continue looking for a coupe or a Targa to get the best of both worlds.

Lightbulb Cabriolet to Targa

993 Cabriolet to Targa Conversion

I have a 1995 993 cabriolet that I want to convert to 993 Targa. I have the roof from a '96 Targa. I was originally thinking of a hardtop add on and I know the soft top has to be removed. So . . . since I'm going to remove the soft top (with linkage, arms, motors, etc) I will install this Targa top as a DIY project. I've heard of some persons in Florida completing this conversion. Does anyone of u know of or heard of where, who and how this was accomplished?? Some leads or web site or threads on this subject would be helpful.

Thanks,
Hz
