Can I put the 18" Carrera Rims on a standard body 964 and what size tires can I put in the rear.

Firstly, if you'd done a search (or even read the stuff that's been posted on page 1 of the 964 forum), you'd have found this:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?threadid=89112 - which would have answered your questions.

Simple answer: no, you can't.
More complicated answer: perhaps, BUT... you will need to either replace your rear flares and potentially rockers and other parts with wide body ones (expensive), or you may possibly be able to roll the fenders so that the 18"ers fit. Also bear in mind that these cars were designed with 16" and 17" wheels (with the exception of the RS 3.8, Turbo S, and 3.6 Turbo), and I have heard anecdotal evidence to suggest that handling is affected for the worse when going to 18" on the 964.

The largest rim that I know of that can be accommodated in the rear of a narrow body (i.e. normal) 964 is 10x17. The largest OE Porsche wheels approved for the (normal) 964 are 9.5x17. I'm not sure where that leaves you regarding tyre width, but I'm using 265-40s (17" Bridgestone S-02s) on the rear of my car (narrow body) with no problems - I've been very happy with them, and they're still pretty big rubber.

It depends on the offsets. I have 18" Speedline 3.6 Turbo wheels on my 1990 C2 Cab. Fronts, 52 mm are a direct bolt on. Rears, 61mm required 14mm spacers to clear the oil lines. That seems to be the ticket, 52mm front and 47-52mm rear.

The Speedlines are 18x10 in the rear with 265/35's and 18x8 in the front with 225/40's. Handling has been marvelous and is a huge improvement on my 17x7 and 17x9 C2 Cup wheels. However, the ride is much harsher and they have not been approved by Porsche. They do fill the wheel well completely. Since this is my toy and rarely sees 200 miles in a month, I can accept the harsh ride/non-approval for the handling and looks.
