Question Clutch diagnosis

My clutch isn't quite right, the pedal must be pressed all the way down hard in order for it to disengage. There is also a squeaky noise on the way down. I've checked the fluid level, it seems fine. Does this mean that I need a new clutch, engine dropped and all that? It is a 1990 C2 with ~125k miles on it.

Sounds like you need a new clutch cover and release bearing. The releaser and fork / cross shaft bearings are probably due for service too. The fluid line is another possibility.

You have a double mass flywheel that weighs about 30 lbs and those tend to act up and fail around 80K miles for some. It could be your chance to renew with the performance single mass flywheel option. Much more fun to drive and a bit cheaper than having to renew the original dual mass flywheel.

Check out the fluid line and slave cylinder 1st.

You are most welcome, hope you get it inspected proper!

Here are some of the associated, while you are in there parts. The bushings and bearings shown here are for the transmission clutch release fork operating shaft. If the feet on the fork are not engaging the release brearing properly sometimes you can have an uneven pull on the RB. Porsche also updated the geometry and part number of the RB fork to a 997 PN in case the feet on the fork are worn too.

964 / 993 Clutch Set for standard, dual mass flhwheel.

Crankshaft Position Sensor / reads teeth on flywheel and starting to see many faulting. Porsche updated these to a newer 996 PN.
