996 Michelins

I am looking at replacing my rear tires with Michelins. I would like to use the Michelin as3 which seem to have longer wear (45 k) I am a 78 year old speed limit driver. While Costco will put this version on the front they will only put the cup version on the back. The 285/30/18 as/3 has the same z rating. Is there some problem using the as/3s. The cost is much lower.

So, they’ll mismatch tires, but won’t put on AS3s on the rear? That makes no sense.
