997 interior lights
I think there is overlap, my question is about my 987, but we share parts. 2008 Boxster S, trouble with dome light, footwell lights, glovebox and trunk, all not working, not with doors open, or with switch on constant power. Lights in front trunk and doors work. Scanner tells me DTC8040 terminal 30G. I tried to reset error no luck, disconnected battery for 30 seconds no luck, I wonder if my power supply control unit has been damaged? Are these plug and play? 99761010205 is the old part number, can a used one be installed or does it require programming?
any other ideas?

well, I will just share what I seem to have uncovered here. More than likely I think my car has partially "slipped" into transport mode. Interior lights are controlled by the power supply control module on terminal 30G. I suspect somehow my module detected a low power voltage when I disconnected and reconnected my battery several times during installation of a radio. This has basically put the electronic power supply control module in a "limp mode" or "transport mode" to prevent battery drainage. Non-essential power is cut off (interior lights) from terminal 30G.
That's my theory anyhow. So the only plausible fix I can think of is to get the car out of transport mode and reprogram the ECU by running the "Sports Car Handover Routine" under "Special Functions" with a PIWIS... which really sucks, because I am one way over 400 miles from the next Porsche dealer...I am not sure if a PST2 could do it? I dont think they are upward compatible and Durametric cannot program... Any thoughts anybody? Sounds plausible so far?

Delivery mode sounds right. You are not the first.

strange deal, I have read several posts now too, does not appear to be consistent though which problem occurs, some cars have problems with the door lights as well, and a lot seem to get the issue with the tank door (need to check on mine), I am pretty sure my courtesy lights from the alarm activate/deactivate blink correct. It seems to me like activating the Sports Car Handover Routine may just flash the memory and reprogram everything, but initial symptoms may vary from car type to car type (986 vs. 987 vs. 997...) Annoying that there is no better method to test or reset this, but I feel better thinking I may have a decent explanation.
I have had my battery die before and I had the airbag warning light stay on and initially I always get a PASM warning after reconnecting my battery. My TPMS took two days to reboot after switching sensors, I could actually read data flow from the TPMS with an Icarsoft scanner BEFORE it showed up on my car display....strange stuff...frustrating that you are locked into using the PIWIS. Contacted Durametric and they said you cannot activate terminal 30G with their software...

Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the exact same issue (only the door lights work), and my diagnostic tool shows a fault with "terminal g30". I'm going to replace my LED interior lights with the OEM bulbs and see if I can find an electrical short somewhere, since I don't seem to have the exact symptoms of the car being in delivery mode.
