Brakes Recommendation

I have a 2001 996 I bought several years ago and need to replace the brakes. The car has 92,000 miles and unknown brake components. I will be replacing the pads and rotors and need recommendation for brands for weekend driving. I will not be tracking the car and drive around town and short trips from Houston.

Plan on doing the brakes myself and will be changing caliper bolts and sensors. Not sure if I need to change the brake lines as there aren't any leaks.

What are your recommendations. This is my first Porsche.

Thanks

Pelican sells kits with brakes, rotors, pads, sensors and bolts. Are your pads and rotors worn to the point they need replacement or is there some other issue? The flexible brake lines may be replaced if you want an upgrade.

I had the wheels off when having other work done and the mechanic said the rotors were past their wear limit but I didn’t need to replace at that time as Porsche brakes are made for fast driving and if I was just driving around town they were fine. Since I was not driving that much I have put off the service. No rubbing or grinding and I have fresh brake fluid. I was looking for brake parts brand name recommendations. I see everything from Porsche brand to Power Stop. All at different price points.

Brembo, Sebro, Ate for rotors.
Street pads…take your pick. Low dust keeps your wheels cleaner.

Contact your local independant Porsche Specialist. Ask them what parts they install and ask them for pricing and supply for you to do the job yourself. Support a local business, it will come in handy when you have issues you can't resolve on your own....

Cheers
