My New 996, Oil check question

Acquired my new vehicle, named Vader on Friday. My acquisition did not include an owner's manual (I have since purchased but am waiting for them to come in the mail). My question is; when I look at the oil dipstick, I am not sure where the oil level should be. Do I check the oil at temperature, while running, or with engine off?

Thanks in advance for your help. Enjoy the pic.

With this engine (unlike with the dry sumps on the aircooled models), you check the dipstick with the engine off. You want the oil to be in the middle to upper area of the stick, between the lines.

Nice car, btw.
