oil level sensor
Hi guys, im new here, but have found some useful info here so i thought i would join. Anyway i have a 2001 996 turbo. I get a message sayin "oil level malfunction" when it tries to measure oil level. I already replaced the sensor. It is the two wire sensor not the four wire sensor. No change. still showing malfunction, also i have battery voltage to the connector. Does anyone know if this is supposed to use battery voltage or does it work off of 5v? thanks guys!

Oil level senders aren't common.
The only time I have fixed sensor faults have been when rodents have chewed up wiring. |

I did some poking about. There are two sensors off the cluster. You sure you have the right one? Both are 2 wires. Both are hard wired to the cluster. Sorry, just poked about in the wiring diagrams briefly- not much time to do so at work. Thats a good thing right?
Honestly, I havent repaired oil level sensor issues. Plently- and I mean plenty of oil pressure sensor issues tho. |

yeah i know ive got the right one, there are two different sensors from what ive found. one has four wires and one has two wires. And i have already put a new one in. i havent checked anything at the cluster yet tho. In the durametric scan tool i can go into the cluster, and when i check for faults it reads oil level malfunction, but then below it, it says status: present it just doesnt make any sense!
