Closing Sunroof

I purchased a 2000 996 C4 a couple of months ago, and am very happy with it. However, being the pessimist that I am, I keep waiting for something to break. Well, the sunroof got stuck with the back side up My mechanic wants $100 just to diagnose the problem. I trust him, but don't want to put the money out right now. Is there a way that I can manually close the sunroof I appreciate any advice or suggestions... TIA

Yes, you can look it up in your manual but what you have to do is pry out the two black sensor covers in your overhead dome light console.

Unscrew the two screws under those, and then the whole console can be unclipped...just pull down.

Then you'll see the tool which can be used to manually wind the sunroof closed.

It may just need a lube, maybe the switch is hooped....there's also a retraining procedure floating around. I might be able to dig it out if you can't find it.

Jasper thank you for the instructions. I followed them to a tee, and was able to manually close the sunroof. I was in a rush, and didn't have time to locate the problem; however, I plan on going back in and seeing if I can diagnose the problem. Once again, thanks Jasper for the excellent advice.

No, I've been a little busy the past couple of weeks. As I posted, I was able to get in and close it, and next week I will get back in there and take it all apart and maybe take some photos on the repair. Thanks for checking.
