Downsized brakes to fit 15" wheels

Looking for recommendations of brake retrofits from earlier models so as to be able to fit 15" rally wheels/tires on a 996C4. Thanks in advance for the constructive feedback.

IC,
Keep looking at this post and keep asking myself if this is a miss post. Why would you want to do this? Are wide tires even available? What about stud alignment and off-sets? You could only fit two piston '80's Carrera or 944 calipers. It would be like driving '50's Detroit lead on a racetrack. Sorry, not very constructive but beyond my very vivid imagination......

I'm also interested in this..........for a RALLY application. Plenty of 996 in Europe doing tarmac rallies with 17" and 18" wheels (BRAIDs) but I haven't found any gravel setups yet. Have the wheels waiting (on our Sprinter). Just need a car and some brakes.

15" wheels will fit on a 99 Boxster. I have put 15x7 phone dials on mine with the late offset 52.3 and wheel spacers. So if you put 99 base Boxster brakes on it they should fit.

Interesting. Does anyone know if they would bolt right on? I'm not too familiar with either of these cars.

Bolt on as in wheel yes they are all 5x130
Boxsters are 5X130. So interchangeable.
Brake clearance in terms of backspacing depends on your wheel and spacer.

I will get a used caliper and rotor set-up off a '99 Boxster and try it if I can get a fitment wheel specimen from you, Paul?

The ones on our Sprinter are pretty close to 996 specs. Our Carrera wheels are +35 so a bit "out there" for this aplication.

Where are you located?

Was just thinking about this more. I think the rear toe link will hit the wheel. I seem to remember trying to put 16" Boxster wheels on a 996 and it hitting.

Bugger. Looks like I need to get my hands on a 996 to check this out. Wonder where I could find one? Oh, here's one.

LOL
