X50 package

How can you tell if a 996 turbo has the x50 package?

You could try looking at the white options sticker on the underside of the luggage compartment lid or the options sticker in the front of the owners manual. If none of those are available or readable then I don't know but I'm sure someone maybe able to help.
Any other ideas?

Digging up an oldie.

I'm looking at a early 2000's Turbo. What exactly is the X50 package? Thanks in advance.

From the option guide, this $18K option included:

OPTION X50 Turbo Power Kit 450 HP
Includes modified turbo chargers, intercoolers, electronic control units, and transmission.

If the option label in either of the locations identified by Aerkuld doesn't list X50 in the option list, ask to see service records for a possible dealer install. It shouldn't be hard to spot an invoice for ~$20,000.

The dealer is going to not want to show you the previous owner's service records due to privacy issues, and a retrofit would have ended up costing more than it would to sell the car an buy another with it already on the car. The upgrades are easy to spot as so much is different, start checking part numbers on the turbo's, that will tell the story....

What? I am searching for a 996 TT right now and, as I have on every used Porsche purchase in the past, I just called the service writer at my dealer to check on the car's maintenance history. He was very friendly, nonchalant, and forthcoming with all information. Heck, I've done it on other brands as well, starting with an Acura Legend I bought back in 1990.

EDIT: Don't know why the quote appears so weird above. Guess that's the iPhone for you.

If the X-50 was a factory upgrade would it be reflected in the VIN number? For that pricey an upgrade one would think it would show up somewhere eh? I'm just sayin'

Strange the X-50 factory upgrade isn't a bit more clearly identified for the 18-20K price tag...
Doesn't "Porsche" ever chime in on these discussions? How sweet could that be?
Support, following of some of these threads, by the factory or Porsche engineneers would an incredible plus for us all. Where are you PORSCHE?
