Water Leak Question

My 1999 996 developed a coolant leak that occurred yesterday and got much worse after a long drive today .

I can determine if the leak is coming from the water pump seal or the return hose.

Does anyone have any experience digging into these parts? I would like to avoid taking the water pump apart if possible.
