Should I modify a 997 Turbo

I have a 2009 997 Turbo and was wanting to know if there where any issues with upgrading the performance chip in the car. I heard I willl get somewhere between 80 -100hp increase and a more responsive throttle. Has anyone done the modification (actually I am sure they have) but were you pleased with the upgrade and would you recommend? The cost is not too bad <$4k but don't want to do anything to the car that I will regret later. Not looking to upgrade the exhaust system at this time.
Appreciate any thoughts and experiences with modifications.

Is it under warranty of any kind? Why not change the exhaust? Noise?

It is a certified pre-owned. I thought about the exhaust - that would get about 40HP whereas the chip was about twice that and about half the money. Thought I would go one at a time.

What type of chip are thinking about using? Is it a software update/reflash, or a plug and play type piece?
From my experience with a 997 TT, the air intake/exhaust upgrade was most enjoyable because these engines sound terrific uncorked;) You'll get the most out of the chip/reflash with free flowing exhaust/air box as well. We used Fabspeed's products, the sound is great, and looks amazing too!

I was thinking of Evoms stage 2 engine software with drop in BMC intake filer and aluminum blow off valves. From the sound of it (pun intended) I might prefer getting the exhaust upgraded first.

However, I am completely open to suggestion as the above is what someone recommended. Welcome any suggestions.

Wouldn't the modifications revoke the warranty that comes with the certified pre-owned status....if something were to go wrong?

Talk to Markski at 911tuning. He can steer you in the right direction.

IF we can help let us know-

we have handheld Flash Loaders with software- that can be flashed back to stock (or even converted to E85 etc) depending on your needs!

For all porsche owner out there, adding an exhaust to the car will not void a warranty of any kind. Exhaust systems can not and will not be a contribution factor in an engine failure. 75% of porsche dealerships install our products on there customer cars ranging from brand new cars to customers vehicles. The tune however can void your warranty, if there is an engine failure they will read out the files in the ecu. They can then see that the tune on the car has been modified and blame it on the tune. To avoid this Fabspeed Motorsports offers a full exhaust system (Headers and Supersport Xpipe with Sport Cats or Maxflo with Sport Cats) you will see a maximum horsepower gain of 54hp and 57Ftlbs without a tune. All systems come with a limited lifetime warranty and a 2 year catalytic converter warranty. If anyone has any further questions please contact me directly or a pelican parts representative. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1400077231.jpg

Please note that although Fabspeed claims to have a two-year warranty on their cats, it is my personal experience that they will refuse to honor it.

I bought a Fabspeed aftermarket exhaust (cats, headers, mufflers, x-pipe, etc.). I have experienced persistent CEL problems with it, and Fabspeed will not stand behind their product, and refuses to honor its warranty.

For a detailed discussion, please see my thread at the following link

Just figured this information may be useful for people doing thread searches to decide aftermarket exhaust options.
