Window Drop Down Switch ?

2002 996 4S

My door handle activates the window drop down OK but as soon as I release the handle to shut the door, the window goes up right away before I have time to close.
Anyone think this part from our host will solve the issue ?

"Window Drop Down Switch on Door Handle (Right) $44.00"

Thanks David

Hi David,
I have exactly the same problem on the driver's side. Did changing the switch fix the issue?

The best thing to do would be to take door panel off so that you have access. There is a switch for the interior handle, another for the exterior handle and multiple inside the latch mechanism itself. The handle switches can be tested for continuity using a multimeter. If they work the you need a new latch mechanism.

Two systems control this function. The first is the microswitch in the handle, which appears to be working. The other is a microswitch that is part of the latch. If the window immediately goes up when you release the handle, the latch thinks the door has closed, so that is where your problem is. The live data can be viewed with a Durametric or quality scan tool.

Cheers

Thanks Jeff.....I just went out to open the door panel to address the window issue and sprayed the door latch with silicone lube and it fixed my window issue.
