2000 C4 Tip Whinning Noise
 

For the last several weeks I have been hearing a whinning noise coming on about 1500 rpm and getting faster as I rev the engine.

At a stop light I can rev the motor to 4000 rpm NO NOISE. Tonight I put the car up on four jack stands and put it into drive and rev the motor again, the wheels are moving NO NOISE...

Could this be a wheel bearing or etc? Any ideas guys????

The whine is heard at about 1500-2000 rpm but only from about 15mph to about 50mph. I can take the car up to 65 mph and let off the gas, letting it idle around 2000rpm and NO NOISE....
